Batch Scale Glossary

Batch Scale uses neutral manufacturing terms internally so the same system can serve bakeries, spice companies, cosmetics makers, studios, and other small producers. Your industry profile may display a more familiar label without changing how the underlying record works.

Core records

  • Material: Anything purchased, stored, consumed, or sold. Ingredients, packaging, components, and finished products can all be materials.
  • Sales product: A material configured for sale through orders, POS, or the storefront.
  • Recipe, formula, or BOM: The quantities and instructions required to create a product. BOM means bill of materials.
  • Production run: A record of making a specific quantity from a recipe or formula.
  • Lot: A traceable quantity received or produced together.
  • Inventory movement: An auditable increase, decrease, or transfer of stock.
  • Committed stock: Stock promised to open customer orders.
  • Available stock: On-hand stock minus committed stock.
  • Tenant or workspace: One maker business and its isolated data.

Changing an industry profile changes labels, starter categories, navigation, and Help results. It does not rename database models, delete records, or rewrite completed transactions.

Sales and finance

  • Quote: A proposed order that is not yet confirmed.
  • Order: A confirmed request for products or services.
  • Fulfillment: Picking, producing, packing, delivering, or handing over an order.
  • Payment: Money received from or returned to a customer.
  • Payout: A business disbursement or owner draw recorded by the workspace.
